    Position Overview

    E3 Federal Solutions leads a highly motivated Facility Condition Assessment (FCA) team that supports the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Agency’s mission of safeguarding the homeland, while facilitating legal trade. The team is responsible for conducting facility condition assessments of CBP’s facility infrastructure along the northern border and southern border of the U.S., as well as Alaska and Puerto Rico. The team also conducts design reviews with an emphasis on cost avoidance and efficient mission performance of designs.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct a facility condition assessment (FCA) utilizing the structural engineering discipline, alongside other engineers of varying engineering disciplines.
    • Based on a facility condition assessment (FCA) and observed facility deficiencies, design an industry acceptable solution, including detailed cost estimates, to remedy the deficiency(s) in the most efficient and economical manner.
    • Conduct design reviews at the conceptual, 35%, 65%, and 95% levels from a structural engineering perspective.
    • Provide recommendations on design reviews with an emphasis on cost avoidance and efficient mission performance of a design.

    Required Qualifications

    • Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP suitability clearance
    • Registered engineering certification in mechanical engineering (i.e., a professional engineering (PE) license)
    • Bachelor’s Degree in structural engineering
    • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience.
    • The ability to travel 50% of the time.
    • Must be a US Citizen 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • The ability to create detailed cost estimates using RS Means Online software
    • Familiarity with the International Building Code (IBC)
    • Familiarity with the applicable Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) standards
    • Familiarity with the applicable National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) standards
    • Familiarity with the applicable American Concrete Institute (ACI) standards.
    • Familiarity with the California Building Standards Code
    • Familiarity with the applicable American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard Classifications for Building Elements and Related Sitework
    • Advanced degrees in structural engineering
